Dipping powder nails: durable colour, no UV lamp

Your nails dipped in powder, sealed and ready to last for weeks, with no UV lamp, on the Plateau.

What is dipping powder?

Dipping powder builds colour in several thin layers: we prep the nail, brush on a tacky base, dip your finger into the coloured powder, tap off the excess, then repeat until the shade reads full and even. A sealing layer locks everything in, with zero time under a UV or LED lamp. The set stays slim and a touch flexible rather than stiff like some acrylics, and the colour keeps its punch without yellowing or chipping for weeks. It's an easy entry point if you're new to enhancements or the lamp bothers you. A drop of cuticle oil each night keeps the surface smooth and the edges tidy right up to your next visit.

Dipping vs shellac vs acrylic

Dipping powder

  • No UV lamp
  • Durable colour
  • Thin, light finish

Shellac (gel)

  • Cured under LED
  • Long-lasting gloss
  • Lasts 2-3 weeks

Acrylic

  • Powder + liquid
  • More length
  • Very strong

Who is it for?

  • Anyone avoiding the UV lamp
  • Durable colour with no upkeep
  • Natural nails to dress up cleanly
  • Allergy to or tired of gel
  • A lighter finish than acrylic

How long does it last?

A dip set typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks without chipping. Removal is by soaking, no prying, to protect the natural nail.

What to expect

Nail prep, a base coat, dipping in the coloured powder (sometimes a few layers), then sealing and finish. Expect 45 to 60 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does getting dipping powder hurt?

No. We just dip your finger in the powder and seal it: no heat under a lamp, nothing that warms up or pulls. Your nails get only a light prep buff, and that's it.

How much does a dip set cost?

From $55, depending on colour and whether you add a French edge or a small design. The amount is settled before the first layer goes down.

How long before it starts to chip?

Usually 3 to 4 weeks with no chipping, because the colour is sealed throughout rather than just on top. Eventually regrowth shows at the base, which is your cue to come back.

Can I get a fill, or does it all have to come off?

Either works. If the set is still healthy, we fill in the regrowth; if not, we soak it off and start fresh for a clean, even surface.

Dipping powder or acrylic, which should I pick?

Dipping gives a thinner, lighter, odour-free finish, perfect for colour on your natural nails. Acrylic is stronger for bold added length. We'll steer you based on what you're after.
