Russian manicure: precision that lasts longer

Cuticles worked with an e-file, colour set right up to the edge: a clean, long-lasting finish, on the Plateau Mont-Royal.

What is a Russian manicure?

A Russian manicure is a dry manicure: instead of soaking and clipping, the cuticle is gently eased back with an e-file to expose the full nail plate. Colour can then be laid right up to the fold, which gives that ultra-clean look and makes the nail appear longer. Because the base is so well prepped, the finish adheres better and regrowth shows much later. It works with your natural nails, no extensions: it's the precision option for tidy hands that stay crisp for two to three weeks, ideal if you love a flawless, detail-perfect result.

Russian vs classic vs gel manicure

Russian manicure

  • Dry, e-file cuticle work
  • Colour right to the fold
  • Regrowth stays discreet longer

Classic manicure

  • Soak and clip
  • Quicker service
  • More frequent upkeep

Gel manicure

  • Durable shellac colour
  • Pairs with the Russian technique
  • Holds up to 3 weeks

Who is it for?

  • Anyone who wants a flawless edge-to-edge finish
  • Anyone who likes to space out appointments (subtle regrowth)
  • Dry or hard-to-clean cuticles
  • Pairing shellac colour with precision
  • First Russian manicure: we walk you through each step

How long does it last?

With a gel colour, expect about 3 weeks before regrowth becomes noticeable, often longer than a classic manicure, because the base is set closer to the fold. Daily cuticle oil stretches the wear even further.

What to expect

Dry e-file cuticle work, shaping, then colour (regular polish or shellac) applied up to the fold and cured under an LED lamp. Expect 60 to 90 minutes depending on colour and design.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Russian manicure hurt?

No. The e-file is used gently on the dead skin around the nail, never on living skin. If anything feels sensitive, tell us and we'll adjust.

How is it different from a regular manicure?

We work dry, with an e-file, instead of soaking and clipping. The result is cleaner, colour reaches further toward the fold, and regrowth shows later.

Can I get shellac colour with it?

Yes. Most clients pair the Russian technique with a gel (shellac) colour for roughly 3 weeks of wear.

How much is a Russian manicure?

From $65, adjusted by colour and design. The price is confirmed before we start, no surprises.

Does removal damage the nails?

No, when done right: gel colour is soaked off without prying, and we respect the natural nail.
